As an owner of two ocean front condos, eliminating the two bike weeks unquestionably hurt our rental revenue. I was in Myrtle during the Atlantic Beach Bike Fest last year. I personally witnessed a well organized, well behaved, respectful group enjoying themselves as they deserved to as paying guests staying in our community. I am not naive enough to believe that no negative situations exist within this group and that I simply didn't witness those occurrences. I contend that groups of any kind will experience those same occurrences, and that we as a resort community NEED to welcome the good with the not so good. Let's call it what it is; The overwhelming benefit to us is obviously the cash generated by these groups visiting us. I depend on that income to pay my mortgages. I imagine the town council group supporting the new referrendums are "old money" without concerns of mortgages and can't see the harm they impose on those of us that do. Think of all the small business owners in Myrtle as well. How were their receipts during the bike weeks this year? Let's face it, we all have selfish interests, but what should rule is the majority, not the minority "old money" folks. Just rope off your neighborhoods as you have so arrogantly done in the past and let groups like the bikers have their fun and spend their money in OUR community. Majority still rules in a democratic society like America, right?

As someone who visits Myrtle Beach about 4 times per year and I am a non biker, but have been there many times during bike week and I am also a business owner in Virginia. I think there are some inside politics going on with this new Bike Rally law. I can not beleive that the leaders of Myrtle Beach apparently have no idea of what this will do to the businesses in Myrtle Beach. Nor do they care. What seems to be a problem in many towns is that the town leadership does not include the businesses and the people in thier town in dicission making. Such a mistake. What does Myrtle Beach plan to do to replace the revenue they will be loosing. Raise taxes? Hmmmm

The new rally laws stink. If you do not want bikers or anyone else visiting 1 of the top 10 tourists sites , and having a good time, you are (scrooges) in the wrong place to live. Go elsewhere to have a sour attitude. Who cares if you want to be a loner because you don't know how to have fun a live a little. I know accidents and things are going to happen. We are bond to not have a perfect record. Things happen in my neighborhood, at Walmart, at work and even on the highway. Get over it or leave " Our tourists alone!!) Bikers or not you are welcome here. I am proud of Myrtle Beach and it's beauty.
